With just three minutes left in the third period defenceman David Osborne broke down the right wing and snapped a shot by the glove of Hugo Laring to give the Chiefs the victory.

Laring and his counterpart Noah Tegelaar were both rock solid in the contest with Chilliwack outshooting Nanaimo 27-25.

The Clippers finished 1/2 on the man advantage and 4/5 killing penalties.

Heading into an important divisional home game with Cowichan Valley on Oct. 9 the Clippers how hold a 4-3 record on the season.

It will be only a brief stop off at home with a four game road swing to Alberta on the horizon from Oct. 13-17.

It’s a travel heavy month for the team with seven away games and only three at home.

The Clippers will get some help with their roster when they face Cowichan Valley with captain Miller Kay set to return from a one game suspension and the much anticipated season debut of Patrick Fortune.
