Revived Nanaimo Ambassador Program focused on leadership, community
NANAIMO — Dormant for nearly a decade, a former pageant competition is being reborn to place the focus squarely on leadership and community involvement.
The Nanaimo Ambassador Program is underway, open to any grade 11 student in the region to submit their name and candidacy to represent Nanaimo at a number of community events over a 12-month period.
Program chair Jayse Ruckstuhl told NanaimoNewsNOW activities run through the program will help attendees build confidence and life skills, leadership, and better local connections.
“All grade 11 students, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, we want everyone to be involved, and it’s more about leadership-based promoting tourism to Nanaimo, learning public speaking, and employability skills.”
