Finishing touches being applied ahead of milestone Cedar Market season
NANAIMO — From humble beginnings, the Cedar Farmers Market has grown into one of the destination events of its kind on Vancouver Island.
The event will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026, opening for the season on May 10 and running through until the Sunday before Halloween, with organizers making the final off-season push ahead of opening day.
Market executive director Kate Poirier said they’ll be on site in the weeks ahead to prepare the former Woodbank Elementary School grounds and are finalizing another jam-packed lineup for the spring and summer.
“We are still approving vendors who have applied, but we have about 150 different businesses booked right now, and we also have our music performances fully booked for the whole season, and we run for six months, so it’s about 25 markets, or so.”
