Hull shines in Clipper victory with two goals including the OT winner

NANAIMO — The Clippers winning streak is up to six after a 6-5 overtime win versus the Langley Rivermen.

The game went through many twists and turns but Langley had only one lead, when they got a goal from Davids Livsics just over a minute into the contest.

Nanaimo had a strong first period and built up a 2-1 lead thanks to markers by Dylan Kinch and Luke Lavery on a power play

Lavery made the score 3-1 in the middle frame but the Rivermen fought back with tallies in 25 seconds by Jacob Wingfield and Sebastian Bradshaw.

The teams would then once again trade goals with Cole Lonsdale putting the Clippers up 4-3 on a man advantage and Livsics tying the game on a deflection.

WIth the score knotted at 4-4 in the third period Chase Hull gave Nanaimo the lead until a late point shot by Sid McNeill forced overtime.

McNeill’s goal was with Rivermen goaltender Dylan Johnson on the bench for an extra attacker.

Hull cleaned up a rebound on a Lavery shot in overtime to give the Clippers the victory.

Vladimir Nikitin got the win for Nanaimo to move to 4-0 on the season.

Three of those wins have been in overtime.

Nanaimo is now one point ahead of Langley for seventh place in the Coastal Division.

They trail the sixth place Alberni Valley Bulldogs by three points.

The Clippers next action is Feb. 14 at home against Powell River.
