VIDEO: Small dogs rescued from fire in Nanaimo home
NANAIMO — First responders successfully rescued two small dogs from a burning central Nanaimo home.
Heavy smoke was reported coming from the basement of a home in the 2100 block of Boundary Ave., near the former Woodlands Secondary School site on Tuesday, Aug. 2. around 10:20 a.m.
Assistant fire chief Stu Kenning said flames were coming out the front of the home where the fire began, but crews moved quickly to knock down the fire in the house, which is home to nine people.
“No-one home at the time of the fire. We’ve notified the nine people and they’re slowly showing up to get their belongings,” Kenning said.
