WestJet announces additional Nanaimo to Calgary flights

NANAIMO — More flights are slowly being added to the schedule at Nanaimo Airport as COVID-19 restrictions ease.

WestJet announced two additional weekly flights on its direct Nanaimo to Calgary service between July 5 and Aug. 4, for a total of six offered on the route.

WestJet also announced the Nanaimo to Vancouver route will remain off its schedule, with no indication when flights will be back in the air.

Increased service by the airline company represents a more than 100 per cent jump from WestJet’s offerings in June, but a 76 per cent drop compared to July 2019, according to the company.

Air Canada is offering three daily round trip flights between Nanaimo and Vancouver, while the company’s suspension of its Harbour City to Calgary route announced on March 23 remains in effect.
