NANAIMO — Drastic reductions to WestJet’s domestic flight schedule will impact its routes linking Nanaimo Airport to Vancouver and Calgary.

WestJet announced it’s two daily round-trips between Nanaimo and Vancouver have been suspended immediately, while service between Nanaimo and Calgary will temporarily scale down to three flights weekly beginning the week of May 3.

WestJet is removing 600 daily flights from its domestic schedule from May 5 through June 4, 2020.

“These changes were required to address significantly reduced guest demand during the COVID-19 crisis,” a WestJet statement to NanaimoNewsNOW said.
