Government funding to help with Parksville Fire Station renovation
PARKSVILLE — A senior government grant is helping green light sorely needed upgrades to the City’s fire station.
The City of Parksville announced Thursday, July 30, they were the recipient of $7 million from the federally funded Strategic Priorities Fund, designed to help municipal governments with major projects beyond their ordinary financial capacity.
Money will go towards upgrades to the Parksville Fire Station on Jensen Ave. W, and will mean the project can be completed without further tax implications for residents.
“A modern, well-equipped fire hall is an essential part of a safe and resilient community,” said mayor Doug O’Brien. “These upgrades will help ensure our firefighters have the facilities they need to respond effectively to emergencies, protect residents and property, and continue providing a high level of service for years to come.”
