Stage four water restrictions coming Friday for Nanaimo Regional District
NANAIMO — Increased water restrictions are coming to most areas of the Regional District of Nanaimo.
Stage four restructions will be in place beginning Friday, July 24, until further notice due to low flows in local rivers and streams, as well as “below-average groundwater levels in some regional aquifers,” according to the RDN, as the warm and dry weather continues this week.
RDN water service areas include the District of Lantzville and the City of Parksville, as well as Decourcey, Little Qualicum Waterworks District, and the Surfside Water Service Area.
The City of Nanaimo remains on stage three restrictions, which were implemented in early June, while the Town of Qualicum Beach is still in stage one.
