PARKSVILLE — It didn’t take crews long to fix a large power outage impacting thousands of people in the Parksville and Nanoose Bay area.

An extensive substation fault was reported, zapping power to over 11,000 BC Hydro customers on Tuesday, Nov 3 at about 10:30 a.m.

Ted Olynyk, BC Hydro’s regional community relations manager, told NanaimoNewsNOW the outages were restored at 10:55 a.m.

“A bird contacted our equipment, causing the outages. The power was just turned back on,” Olynyk said.
