Port Pub called nuisance unsightly hazard

City Council is preparing to put the Port Pub back on the nuisance property list, and force improvements for the tenants.

According to a report from the Manager of Community Safety, the property is in hazardous condition and so dilapidated and unclean to be offensive to the community.

The report contains more than 2 pages of remedial demands to repair doors, windows, fire escapes, and ceilings in several units that have collapsed due to moisture levels and flooding.

The low barrier building also has the distinction of having the highest call volumes in Port Alberni with 88 police and 92 fire calls last year.

Owner Peter Wang already faces more than $7800 in bylaw fines, and will have 30 days to comply with the city demands if the motion is passed by council today.
