Former Nanaimo supportive housing tenant broke in twice, stole credit cards
NANAIMO — Purportedly staffed around the clock, a north Nanaimo supportive housing facility was the target of two break-ins that took several hours and, in one case, more than a day to detect.
Ricky John Randell, 55, received a six-month jail sentence for three north Nanaimo break-ins, two of them at his former home, Uplands Walk.
An agreed statement of facts, read by Crown counsel’s Leanne Mascolo during a Friday, July 24 sentencing hearing, outlined how Randell broke into the supportive housing complex at 6025 Uplands Dr. on Nov. 25 at about 3:30 a.m.
Armed with a crowbar, Randell forced open Uplands Walk’s front door and stole a safe from the manager’s office.
