CRANBROOK — The Clippers survived a rocky start to claim their fourth straight win, a 6-3 decision over the host Bucks at Western Financial Place.

Kaslo Ferner made it 1-0 seven minutes into the game on Saturday, Nov 18 before Joel Plante knotted the game for Nanaimo a few minutes later.

A late first period power play goal from Cranbrook’s Blake Cotton and another late tally by Jack Silich had the Clippers in a 3-1 hole.

Nanaimo came out firing in the second period with an early goal by Gabriel Westling, his first of the season.

Mike Murtagh tied the game on a steal from the right wing at the 13 minute mark, while Plante put the Clippers ahead to stay on a late period breakaway.

Plante completed his hat trick in the final frame and captain Brett Merner iced the contest with an empty netter.

The Clippers were outshot 45-40 while going 0/1 on the power play and 3/4 killing penalties.

Tyler Hodges grabbed his fourth straight win in goal as Nanaimo improved to 7-3 on the road.

The victory was also the Clippers first ever in Cranbrook in just their second trip to to the east Kootenay city.

Nanaimo opened the two-game weekend road trip with a 5-3 triumph over the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday night.

The Clippers return to Frank Crane Arena to begin a home and home series with the Bulldogs on Nov. 24 in Nanaimo and a contest the following night in Port Alberni.

Both games start at 7 p.m.
