TRAIL — The Clippers are on their first three game winning streak of the BCHL season after a 5-3 victory in Trail.

Nanaimo got off to a fast start thanks to a goal 80 seconds into the contest from Noah Alvarez on the man advantage.

Mathieu Cobetto-Roy replied with a power play goal of his own and another tally late in the first period to put the Smoke Eaters up 2-1 at the intermission.

Adam Parsons got the home side up 3-1 early in the middle frame, but that served as wake up call for the Clippers who had identical right side tap in goals by Joel Plante and Luke Buss to leave the game even at 3-3 heading to the third.

Samuel Boisvert redirected an Andrew Brown point shot mid way through the final period to give Nanaimo the lead and Willyam Gendron wrapped it up with an empty net goal in the dying seconds.

The Clippers were outshot 36-30 overall but made a massive push in the final 20 minutes by outshooting Trail 14-5.

Both teams went 1/2 on the man advantage and there were no power plays after the 15 minute mark of the second period.

Tyler Hodges was strong in net with 33 saves, and has been in goal for all three of the victories in Nanaimo’s streak.

Willyam Gendron extended his point streak to ten games with a goal and an assist and Michael Murtagh bumped his point streak to seven with an assist.

The Clippers travel Cranbrook for their next game on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. It’s their only meeting of the season against the Bucks and just the Clippers second ever BCHL trip to Cranbrook.
