Two goals from Daniells drives Clippers in 4-1 win over Express

COQUITLAM — The Clippers finished their three game road trip with a solid 60 minute effort in a victory over the Express.

Jeremie Payant and Coquitlam’s Cam Moger traded first period goals, but Nanaimo broke the game open in the middle frame.

Kai Daniells scored twice and Luca Grabas added another in a three minute span to secure the victory.

Shane Shelest made 35 saves in net while Brady Smith allowed four goals for the Express before making way for Adam Manji.

The final shots finished 36-31 for Coquitlam with both teams going 0/1 on power plays.

Daniells capped off a successful weekend with two goals in a win over Chilliwack, a goal and an assist in a loss to Langley and another two versus the Express.

Overall he has nine points in a five game point streak.

Nanaimo finished the month of February with a 5-4 record and with their 33rd victory of the season, they have matched their regular season total from the 21-22 campaign with nine games left to play.

The Clippers begin March with a home game against the Victoria Grizzlies on Wednesday March 1 at 7 p.m.
