Defence calls no evidence in high-profile Nanaimo murder trial
NANAIMO — “The defence will be calling no evidence,” attorney Jordan Watt said Thursday, during a high-profile murder trial in Nanaimo.
The defence team for 44-year-old Ronald Joseph Campbell opted not to submit any evidence directly during the multi-week trial in which Campbell is accused of murdering Yasin Khan outside the Wendy’s restaurant at Rock City Centre in May 2021.
Campbell has pleaded not guilty.
Beginning in July, Crown Counsel presented evidence they say proves Campbell was hired by enemies of Khan to kill the man as he sat in his vehicle in the middle of the afternoon.
