Country-wide cycling tour for Parkinson’s comes to the mid-Island
NANAIMO — An annual bike ride across Canada raising funds for those living with Parkinson’s disease is criss-crossing Vancouver Island this week.
Parkinson Canada’s Spinning Wheels Tour involves teams riding across all ten provinces this summer, with a fundraising goal of $200,000 for B.C., and close to a million dollars country-wide.
Tour co-chair Lloyd Taylor, 59, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2020.
He began experiencing tremors, and was amazed when realizing that riding a bike eased those symptoms tremendously.
