Clippers fall in double overtime battle in Game 2 of BCHL Finals

May 16, 2026 | 11:47 PM

BROOKS — Game 2 of the BCHL Finals went the distance and then some.

Nanaimo lost 2-1 in double overtime in a game that went more than 60 minutes without a goal.

In the opening period Mathis Dufour opened the scoring for Brooks before Tanner Bruender equalized on a Clipper power play.

Goalies Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau and Zach Zahara for the Bandits were perfect from that point onwards until the second overtime session.

Seguin-Lescarbeau made 49 saves and earned second star honours while Zahara made 39 and was selected the first star.

Rylan Hue was the hero for the Bandits ending the game at the 12:51 mark of the second OT.

Nanaimo finished 1/3 on the man advantage while Brooks went 0/2.

A key moment of the game was a second period penalty shot awarded to Patrick Fortune that hit the goal post.

Both clubs had several near misses throughout the contest.

The best of seven BCHL Finals are now tied 1-1 with the third and fourth games slated for Frank Crane Arena on May 19 and 20.

There will be a Game 5 played in Brooks on Friday May 22.
