Teams will travel 1,245 kilometres between Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo and Centennials Regional Arena in Brooks, taking between 14 and 15 hours by bus.

One visit to Brooks will eclipse all the travel the Clippers have done in the BCHL Playoffs to date this season, with trips to and from Alberni, Cowichan, and Prince George totalling just over 2,200 kilometres.

The trip will represent the 10th longest possible BCHL playoff matchup, in terms of kilometres on the road, behind a potential Powell River-Sherwood Park series, with teams 1,348 kilometres apart.

It’s also the 7th longest possible matchup in terms of straight-line distance, with 878.2 kilometres between the two arenas.

The matchup will be the first-ever BCHL meeting between the two franchises in either the regular season or playoffs.

Game one on Friday night will mark only the second game played between the two teams in their respective histories, with the Clippers defeating Brooks 7-2 in the round-robin stage of the 2013 Western Canada Cup, hosted in Nanaimo, a then-precursor to the Junior A National Championship.

The Clippers’ record through the playoffs to date is 12-4 after a five-game series win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in round one, a seven-game triumph in round two against Cowichan Valley, and a four-game sweep over the Prince George Spruce Kings in the conference final.

Brooks has played the same number of games as Nanaimo.

The Bandits swept Spruce Grove in round one, before getting by Sherwood Park in a seven-game second round series, before beating Cranbrook in five.

Both teams have conceded 39 goals in their 16 games, however Brooks has scored 74 goals to Nanaimo’s 60.

Brooks finished first in the Interior East division and second overall in the BCHL with a record of 37-11-6-0 (80 points), ahead of Nanaimo’s 30-18-6-9 (66 points).
