Nanaimo RCMP investigate vandalized Iranian advocacy signs

NANAIMO — Police hope the public can help crack the case of damaged Iranian advocacy signs in Nanaimo at busy intersections.

Nanaimo RCMP believe the damage occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on March 18, and 6 p.m. the following day, at the intersections of Departure Bay Rd. and Aulds Rd.

The damaged signs associated with a federal petition from the Iranian community and were found spray-painted black.

Nanaimo RCMP received a formal complaint on March 23.

Police are asking anyone with more information, including dash camera or security camera footage, or if anyone saw suspicious activity in the area during those times, to call their non-emergency number at 1-250-754-2345.
