SURREY – The Clippers continue to roll in 2026 with their latest win a 6-1 triumph over Surrey.

After a bumpy start to the game the Clippers came out of the first period with a 1-0 lead.

Half way throught the opening frame Caden Okovita was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for checking from behind.

Nanaimo killed off the penalty and then Hayden Fechner opened the scoring breaking in off the left wing.

The Clippers took the game over in the second period thanks to three pretty goals, first from

Jack Rimmer on a four way passing play, then Miller Kay tipped in a centring pass and Patrick Fortune put home a cross ice feed on a Nanaimo man advantage.

In the third period Rimmer and Indiana Grossbard also added power play markers.

Goalie Matthew Hutchison picked up the win and is now 3-0-2 as a starting goalie.

Surrey’s Michael Fiedorczuk was the only player to beat him in the third period.

The final shots were 36-24 in Nanaimo’s favour with the Clippers going 3/7 on the man advantage and 7/7 on the penalty kill.

Nanaimo swept their season series 4-0 against the Eagles and are on a run of 8-0-2 in their last 10 games.

The Clippers will end February with a home game versus the Grizzlies on Feb. 27 and a visit to Powell River on Feb. 28.
