Full week of events planed as Nanaimo Pride kicks into high gear
NANAIMO — A full slate of all-ages events is planned as the Harbour City shows its pride.
Beginning Monday, June 8, with a Heated Rivalry-themed trivia night, and continuing to the annual street parade and festival on Sunday, June 14 at Maffeo Sutton Park, organizers from the Nanaimo Pride Society are preparing to welcome thousands.
Society president Lauren Semple said they’re celebrating 10 years of the annual parade and festival and over 30 years of local activism and public displays of pride in Nanaimo.
“We’ve really been working on diversifying the event offering, making sure we’ve kind of got something for everyone, all ages. We’ve got family and 19+ events, sober events, events with alcohol sales…just creating different environments and opportunities for connection.”
