18-year-old man killed during late night crash south of Nanaimo
NANAIMO — A young man is dead following a fiery Highway 1 crash south of the city.
Emergency first responders were called to the highway, near the Morden Rd. intersection, after a black Audi S3 lost control, crashed and caught fire on Sunday, Nov. 2 around 10:30 p.m.
BC Highway Patrol Cpl. Michael McLaughlin told NanaimoNewsNOW the incident killed an 18-year-old man, and injured the 19-year-old driver, with potentially more than one vehicle involved.
“We believe a second vehicle, a second dark coloured car, was driving very closely, possibly a black Honda Civic. We have not yet identified that car or the driver. It’s very important that witnesses help us identify that driver and dash camera video would also be very important.”
