‘They can compromise your identity:’ Nanaimo shredding event returns
NANAIMO — A popular and highly requested shredding event is returning this weekend.
Nanaimo & District Crimestoppers are hosting a document shredding day on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Country Grocer at the corner of Bowen Rd. and Dufferin Cres.
RCMP Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien said it’s one of the local Crimestoppers’ biggest fundraisers of the year, with a suggested donation of $20 per banker’s box.
“We don’t receive any government funding, we rely on measures like this to raise funds to support our programs, to pay tipsters, to have training for our volunteers…and to also raise our brand so people know what Crimestoppers is.”
