NANAIMO — Authorities are on the lookout for a man charged with a high-profile crime.

An arrest warrant was issued for Christopher Lee Hagen-McInnes after he failed to show up for a scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 28 court appearance in Nanaimo.

Hagen-McInnes, 29, is charged with secretly observing/recording nudity in a private place, in relation to a camera installed on the door of a change room at Nanaimo Aquatic Centre on Jan 18.

Charges by the BC Prosecution Service against Hagen-McInnes were approved on Aug. 25.

Hagen-McInnes has a detailed criminal history, primarily related to property crime.

He was jailed for nine months in early 2024 for multiple break and enters, possession of stolen property and mischief in and around the Greater Victoria area.

Multiple probation orders, some upwards of two years, were also applied to him post-release and remain effect.

Following the camera’s discovery, Nanaimo RCMP stated no images of children were found on the video, however a male adult male is considered a victim.

Nanaimo RCMP released images of a man, believed to be Hagen-McInnes, as part of a late March news release, depicting him at that time as a person of interest.

A bench warrant authorizes police to arrest Hagen-McInnes and bring him to court.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hagen-McInnes is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP detachment at 250 754 2345.
