NANAIMO — After five seasons, 74 career games and 252 career points, Junior A Timbermen captain Andrew Bowman finished his career with a Most Valuable Player award.

Bowman led the team to a third place finish with an 11-6 record.

He had 60 points which was the sixth most in the BCJALL and his 34 assists were fourth overall in the league.

The hometown Nanaimo product says being MVP wasn’t anything he thought about during the season.

“It’s a cool award for sure but as a leader on the team I’m always thinking about the end goal of us winning games. Without the guys, I had more assists than I had goals, a lot of those guys scored guys when I passed them the ball so it’s an honour for myself but the also the team as well.”

One of Bowman’s major highlights from 2025 was the island rivalry with the Victoria which spanned two regular season games and six more in the playoffs.

“It was an amazing playoff series even though it didn’t come out the way we wanted to it was a classic. Almost every game could have gone either way coming down to the third period. It’s something I’ll never forget. And also a lot of our guys I’ve played with since I was five years old so wrapping up a career and my season with them was a cool experience.”

The Senior A Timbermen are almost certain to add Bowman in the WLA draft in 2026.

With two territorial picks and the first overall selection Bowman is a player that seems destined to continue his career within the Timbermen organization.

“I don’t want to play for another team that’s not Nanaimo. I’ve played a couple games for them over the years. It would be awesome because obviously my brother is on that team and my family has a lot to do with the team. It’s a place I want to be and I hope I can make an impact if I do end up there.”

After five years with the Junior A Timbermen Bowman has plenty of in game highlights but he said some of his best memories are from off the floor.

“I’ve seen five different graduating classes. I took a lot of pride creating relationships with every guy especially in later years when I was the team captain. There’s a lot of memories from ferry trips and trips down to Victoria. A lot of those guys from through the years I still keep in contact with now.”
