Charges laid following multiple Oceanside residential break and enters

Feb 7, 2025 | 5:31 AM

NANAIMO — A man is accused of breaking into five additional Oceanside area homes after being originally charged with one local residential break-in late last year.

New charges against Timothy Joseph Dafoe, 41, relate to alleged break-ins impacting homes between Nanoose Bay and French Creek between October and December 2024.

“Investigators were able to link Timothy Dafoe to the break and enters through various pieces of evidence including witness statements and video surveillance,” Oceanside RCMP Sgt. Shane Worth stated in a news release.

Sgt. Worth stated the five new charges were laid against Dafoe earlier this month and he remains in custody.

Dafoe is scheduled to next appear in provincial court in Nanaimo on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Oceanside Mounties reported Dafoe was arrested after a suspect was spotted by neighbours inside a home on Beaver Creek Wharf Rd., off NW Bay Rd., in Nanoose Bay on Dec. 11.

“Upon search, he was found to be in possession of jewellery which had just been taken from within the residence,” Sgt. Worth told NanaimoNewsNOW in December.

Court records showed Dafoe has an extensive criminal record dating back to the early 2000’s, primarily for property crimes throughout the mid Island area.
