NANAIMO — The Clippers stretched their win streak to four games with a 4-3 victory over the Langley Rivermen.

An early goal by Roghan Walker staked Langley to a 1-0 lead in a first period where the Clippers were outshot 12-5.

Charles Beland tied the game early in the middle frame by scoring in his fifth consecutive game for Nanaimo.

Rivermen captain Josh Frenette put the home side back in front less than three minutes later.

A late second period blast by Jack Clark evened the contest at 2-2.

Clark’s goal was his first in the BCHL on a nice setup from Zack Carrier.

Before the three minute mark of the third Karl-Otto Magnusson notched his first of the campaign as well by shooting a wrist shot high into the net immediately after a Nanaimo offensive zone faceoff win.

Beland added another on an individual effort on the power play by stealing a puck near centre ice and walking over the blue line and zipping a shot in to up the Clippers advantage to 4-2.

Frenette countered with the Rivermen on a man advantage of their own by pounding a shot that deflected by Clippers goalie Hugo Laring.

Langley pressed in the back half of the third period but Laring managed to keep the door shut despite Nanaimo being outshot 37-21 overall.

On special teams the Clippers went 1/2 killing penalties and killed off two of three Rivermen opportunities.

Nanaimo’s three game mainland road trip continues in Coquitlam on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
