NANAIMO — An arrest warrant has been issued for a man considered to be a violent offender.

Michael William McLellan, 39, faces a single robbery charge from a Nov. 23, 2024 incident where he allegedly punched a woman in the face several times and then stole her purse.

Officers were able to arrest McLellan later the same day on the robbery charge, and he was subsequently released on conditions, including appearing in court on Dec. 19 which he failed to do.

McLellan is considered of no fixed address, but Mounties believe him to be in the Nanaimo area.

He’s described as 5’11” tall, 180 pounds with brown hair, a beard and brown eyes. Police say the picture provided is recent.

McLellan is considered a violent offender after he was sentenced to a six-month conditional sentence and nine months probation after a 2005 assault causing bodily harm charge and spent 50 days in prison in 2006 on an assault conviction.

Anyone with information regarding McLellan’s whereabouts is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250 754 2345.
