Multiple charges laid against Nanaimo man after fatal Parkway crash
NANAIMO — A local man is facing multiple charges, including criminal negligence causing death, after a crash on the Nanaimo Parkway last summer.
Sixty-year-old Michael Allison Rennie is the man RCMP allege was behind the wheel of a green Dodge Caravan on the night of July 19, 2023, at around 9:45 p.m. when it hit another vehicle driven by 24-year-old Reid Davidson, who later died of his injuries.
Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien said a police investigation indicated Rennie’s actions while driving directly led to the fatal incident.
“Mr Rennie’s alleged to have been driving in the wrong direction, at which point his vehicle collided with Mr. Davidson’s and sadly took his life. Mr. Rennie was located in Nanaimo on warrants.”
