Clippers take down Kings 5-3 at Frank Crane Arena

NANAIMO — The Clippers bounced back from consecutive losses with a 5-3 home him versus Powell River.

The Kings built up three one goal leads before Nanaimo scored the final three goals of the night .

Anthony Yu snapped a shot from left wing behind Tom Kiesewetter five minutes into the game to give the Kings the advantage.

Noah Alvarez tied the contest on a quick short side shot on a Nanaimo power play nine minutes later.

But in the final minute of the opening stanza Jace Harder looped home a loose puck to give Power River the lead back.

In the middle frame Joel Plante tied the game at the 12 minute mark but Alexi Van-Houtte Cachero vaulted the Kings back in front just two minutes later on the power play.

Connor Haynes first BCHL goal shorthanded pulled the game back to even late in the period.

Haynes drilled a shot high to the glove side of Owen Crudale to get the goal.

In the third a strong Nanaimo push gave the Clippers the victory.

Cole Lonsdale buried his fourth goal in five games and Emmett McHardy sealed the game with a late empty netter.

Nanaimo outshot Powell River 37-33 with Kiesewetter earning his second win of the season.

Nanaimo went 1/4 on the power play and 4/5 killing penalties.

Their PK included a successful five on three kill for 1:27.

The Clippers visit the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Oct. 7 trying to avenge a 6-2 loss from Sept. 30.

Then Nanaimo and Powell River will play back to back at the Hap Parker Arena on Oct. 13 and 14.
