QUALICIUM BEACH — It’ll be a classic car paradise in downtown Qualicum Beach on Sunday.

Seaside Cruizers Car Club’s annual Father’s Day Show & Shine happens Sunday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Club president Jim Moroz said a wide range of vehicles from a variety of models and eras will be lined up throughout downtown Qualicum Beach.

“We’re sold out with 500 cars, plus our members’ cars, so there will be 550 cars there,” Moroz said, noting their oldest model car coming dates back to 1932.

Celebrating its 33rd anniversary, Moroz believes entrants from Vancouver Island and some from further abroad appreciate the ideal setting Qualicum Beach provides.

“I think the venue has a lot to do with it, downtown Qualicum Beach is a beautiful venue to showcase all of those cars, the vendors and everything that we do there.”

In addition to classic cars and vintage-era trucks and motorcycles, entertainment and food trucks will be set up.

Moroz said an increasing number of brands are producing new vehicles with a classic car feel to them, such as the Dodge Challenger.

He said Challenger wing car worth between $300,000 and $400,000 will be among the vehicles sure to grab people’s attention.

Moroz is always pleased to see newer generations of car enthusiasts get involved.

“I think as people get younger we have to pass it on to the younger crowd, but those cars seem to be so expensive that it’s a tough go, I think.”

In addition to viewing classic cars, the Seaside Cruziers Car Club raises significant amounts of money for Oceanside-area non-profit organizations.

Last year, Moroz said over $30,000 was generated, as well as a pair of school scholarships funded.

Several other events are included as part of Show & Shine weekend in Qualicum Beach, including a downtown street dance in Qualicum beach on Saturday, June 20 between 6 p.m and 10 p.m.
