VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have signed Swedish forward prospect Nils Aman to an entry-level contract.

Aman, 22, had 14 points (six goals, eight assists) and eight penalty minutes in 51 games with Leksands IF of the Swedish Hockey League last season.

He’s played 110 regular-season SHL games, tallying 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists), added one goal in four playoff appearances, and played for Sweden at the men’s world hockey championships in Finland last month.

Hailing from Avesta, Sweden, the six-foot-two, 185-pound Aman was drafted 167th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2020 NHL entry draft.

He became a free agent when the Avs declined to sign him to a deal before his draft rights expired last week.

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said in a statement Tuesday that Aman is a “smart hockey player who plays with speed and has a strong work ethic.

“He possesses a good two-way game and we look forward to seeing his continued development on both sides of the ice with the Canucks organization,” Allvin said.
