Firefighter injured after fall on White Rock Lake fire site
A firefighter was injured while working on the White Rock Lake wildfire today.
Todd Nessman, fire operations manager with the BC Wildfire Service, said the the male firefighter fell down a hill and was transported to treatment.
“I know the individual was working on a steep slope and it sounds like something came dislodged and it sounds like he fell down a slope upwards of 100 feet,” Nessman told a provincial news conference Thursday.
“They were quite concerned with his injuries initially. We had an ambulance meet him on the ground, so having a patient go by ground is a good sign in that it wasn’t as serious as initially feared and we didn’t have to transport him by helicopter directly to hospital.”
