NANAIMO — The BCHL is putting the Island Division pod schedule on pause, following a potential positive COVID-19 test.

Thursday’s planned game between the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and Nanaimo Clippers is cancelled after an inconclusive COVID-19 test from one of the Clippers players.

The status of Nanaimo’s weekend games remain up in the air. The team is due to play Victoria on Saturday, April 17 and Alberni Valley on Sunday, April 18.

“The Nanaimo Clippers have paused all team activities to allow for further analysis of a potential positive COVID-19 test result,” a statement from the league read.

All members of the team are isolating until further testing can occur.

Players are tested once a week while in the pod season.

The Nanaimo Clippers are part of the Island Division pod with Cowichan Valley, Victoria and Alberni Valley playing all games out of the Weyerhauser Arena in Port Alberni.

The Clippers return to Nanaimo after every game in Port Alberni, while the Grizzlies and Capitals have stayed overnight in Alberni in addition to regular commuting after games.
