NANAIMO — Local police are hoping to identify a man accused of stabbing another during a disagreement in the downtown.

Police were called to the parking lot of the Port Place Mall around 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 1 after a man got into an argument with another man and allegedly stabbed him at least once.

Cst. Gary O’Brien said the two were somewhat known to each other.

“There may have been six degrees of separation between them, but they’re not known to be friends, they don’t hang out. (The victim) happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

The knife used was old and rusty. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A witness to the incident snapped a photo of the suspect as he left the scene. He’s described as around 6’1″ tall, with brown or blonde hair and wearing a dark jacket and baseball cap.

Witnesses also said the man had discoloured, yellow teeth.
