Oilers claim goaltender Alex Stalcok off waivers from Minnesota

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have claimed goaltender Alex Stalock off waivers from the Minnesota Wild.

The 33-year-old Stalock did not appear in a game for Minnesota this season.

The native of St. Paul, Minn., has a record of 61-48-18 with nine shutouts, a 2.61 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage over 152 games with San Jose and Minnesota.

Stalock will add depth to an Oilers goaltending group that includes Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen.

Smith has been fantastic since returning to action after missing the first month of the 2020-21 season with an undisclosed injury, posting a 6-1-0 record with a 2.04 GAA and .934 save percentage.

Koskinen has struggled with a 7-8-0 record, 3.26 GAA and .901 save percentage.
