Driver injured in multi-vehicle crash on Bowen Rd.

NANAIMO — A multi-vehicle incident has disrupted traffic on Bowen Rd.

A vehicle collided with a truck at the Bowen Rd. and Wakesiah Ave. intersection around 9:45 a.m. on Monday, March 1.

According to witnesses, the driver of a truck travelling southbound on Bowen Rd. collided with a car turning left from Bowen Rd. onto Wakesiah Ave.

The male driver of the car was able to break through a side window to climb out and was later taken to hospital by ambulance. Witnesses told NanaimoNewsNOW the man was alert and didn’t appear to be seriously injured.

The driver of the truck appeared to be unhurt and did not require medical attention at the scene. He and others remained to provide statements to police.

Southbound traffic towards downtown remained closed as crews cleaned up from the incident.

Northbound traffic along Bowen Rd. continued to flow while cars turning off Bowen Rd. onto Wakesiah Ave. were only briefly re-routed.
