PARKSVILLE — A man was killed Wednesday morning after veering in front of traffic along Hwy. 4 just west of Whiskey Creek.

Oceanside RCMP said the Nanaimo man, 41, was riding an unlicensed dirt bike on the shoulder of the highway east of Cameron Lake when he unexpectedly cut in to traffic.

“It looked like there was a trail nearby he was trying to access and he didn’t look over his shoulder before cutting right in front of an oncoming vehicle,” Cpl. Jesse Foreman told NanaimoNewsNOW.

The driver of the vehicle, a 61 year old Port Alberni man, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
