Two-time Stanley Cup winner joins Nanaimo Clippers’ ownership group
NANAIMO — Two new investors are joining the Nanaimo Clippers’ ownership group.
The BC Hockey League team announced Friday, Aug. 28, the addition of Roman Tkachenko and former NHL defenceman Oleg Tverdovsky to Northern Lights Hockey Canada LLC, the organization which purchased the team in 2022.
Existing team president Brad Kwong will remain a managing partner, while a statement from the team said both Tkachenko and Tverdovsky will bring “fresh, committed capital and renewed energy” to the team.
“We’re proud to invest in the Clippers and in Nanaimo,” Tkachenko said in the statement. “This is a franchise with tremendous history and passionate fans, and we’re committed to providing the resources and support it needs to thrive and be successful for years to come.”
