‘Kiddos are taken care of:’ school supply fundraiser on now for Nanaimo-Ladysmith students

NANAIMO — As the summer starts to wind down, parents are getting their kids ready to head back to the classroom.
The Nanaimo Ladysmith Schools Foundation (NLSF) wants to ensure all local kids have the supplies they need to succeed in the classroom during their annual Stock the Lockers campaign, running now until Sept. 15, benefiting students in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District. (SD68)
Executive director Crystal Borbandy said along with collecting new backpacks, pencils, crayons and other basic school supplies, they also provide financial support so kids can fully participate in their education.
“Hundreds of students have accessed supports in one way or another, whether it’s waiving a fee for a swimming or year-end field trip, we’ll sponsor students for that as well. Everything we do is within the realm of the public school system. So we don’t do extracurriculars, but anything throughout the school year.”
