NANAIMO — A corner of Maffeo Sutton Park is now a public garden acknowledging the work of local Rotarians.

The Rotary Centennial Garden is officially open in the north east corner of Maffeo Sutton Park, near the recently renovated playground.

Bob James, president of the Rotary Club of Nanaimo, said they wanted to create a significant memorial to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Club.

“The Rotary Centennial Garden is a reflection of our vision to create a beautiful, public space accessible to everyone,” he said in a release. “The local Rotary Clubs look forward to continue to service the community for the next 100 years and beyond.”
