Parksville Mayoral candidate calls for spending restraint, job creation
PARKSVILLE — Having run in prior federal elections, a candidate vowing to deliver governance for the people is taking a run at Parksville’s Mayor’s chair.
Mike Butler, a French Creek resident, said he’s been involved in politics for the past 20 years, and describes easing the property tax burden in Parksville as a key priority.
As an advocate concerned about rising property tax rates impacting Regional District of Nanaimo rate payers, Butler said he’s also hearing concerns about Parksville’s rising tax rates, which he calls unsustainable.
“We don’t want those tax raises, and please space out the spending that you’ve decided to incur for all of us, and let’s make some wise decisions going forward,” Butler said, who advocated on behalf of the RDN Taxpayers Alliance.
