$40k worth of silver coins and pistol stolen in north Nanaimo break-in

NANAIMO — RCMP are investigating a sizeable theft from three storage lockers at an apartment building on McRobb Ave.

Police stated in a news release thieves pried open a main door to a storage area sometime on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 where numerous items were taken. Most notably a semi-automatic pistol and more than 1,000 Canadian Maple Silver Leaf one ounce coins were stolen.

The value of the prized coins are believed to be about $40,000, according to Nanaimo RCMP.

The serial number of the gun, a Ruger MK. 22 calibere 11 semi-automatic pistol is 27445686.
