NANAIMO — Investigators are now working to see if Nanaimo RCMP members were at fault for the serious but not life-threatening injuries sustained by a suspect.

A release from the Independent Investigations Office said the injuries occurred on Sept. 18, 2019 when a man was arrested for allegedly being in a stolen vehicle.

The arrest happened on Highview Terrace off Haliburton St. in south Nanaimo.

Information about the incident was provided by the RCMP to the IIO on July 29, 2020, nearly one year after the incident.
