NANAIMO — An RCMP raid of a home near the Departure Bay ferry terminal turned up several ounces of fentanyl, suspected crystal meth and $2,000 cash.

The bust occurred at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 on Brechin Rd. near Bayview Ave., according to a Nanaimo RCMP news release.

A man and woman, both 35-years-old, were arrested inside the home without incident.

“The seizure of this amount of fentanyl is huge for our community, and equates to approximately 400 usages of this deadly drug and potentially 400 fatal overdoses,” RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said in the release.
