Nanaimo’s latest lotto winner eyes new RV after $75,000 triumph

NANAIMO — A chance stop at a south Nanaimo gas station was extremely profitable for a Nanaimo resident.

Delores Kachanoski took home just over $75,000 from the June 12 Lotto Max draw after purchasing a ticket for the jackpot at the South Parkway Petro Canada gas station.

While sipping her morning coffee, Kachanoski checked her numbers and was surprised at the scale of her win.

“I thought at first I had only won $1,000,” Kachanoski said. “I decided to confirm the win and it showed I had won $75,000!”

Kachanoski plans to purchase a new RV with her winnings to allow her and her family to go camping more regularly.

She’s the latest in a long line of local lotto winners in recent years.

In January, a Nanaimo mother won $500,000 in a Lotto Max draw. She was the 14th person to win $500,000 or more on a ticket purchased in Nanaimo since 2012.
