Officials lift boil water advisory in Ladysmith, surrounding area

LADYSMITH — A boil water advisory impacting people in Ladysmith and surrounding area for nearly four days has been lifted.

The Town of Ladysmith issued a news released Monday afternoon stating the advisory was lifted after a pair of results showed its water meets or exceeds provincial drinking water standards.

The advisory impacting the Town of Ladysmith, the Diamond Improvement District and Stz’uminus First Nation came into effect the evening of Thursday, March.

People who receive their water from the Town of Ladysmith are asked to take the following measures before they drink or cook with tap water:

• Run cold-water faucets and drinking fountains for one minute before using the water
• Drain and flush all ice-making machines in your refrigerator
• Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle
• Drain and refill hot water tanks set below 45 C (normal setting is 60 C)
• Change any pre-treatment filters (under sink style and refrigerator water filters, carbon block, activated carbon, sediment filters, etc.)
