Ladysmith extends boil water advisory for town, surrounding area
LADYSMITH — Officials at the Town of Ladysmith are blaming an unintended release of water for increased levels of turbidity in the town’s water supply.
A boil water advisory was issued Thursday, Mar. 5 with residents encouraged to vigorously boil tap water for at least one minute prior to drinking.
“At this time of year, water from the “Chicken Ladder” source can be higher in turbidity than is permitted under the latest Island Health guidelines,” said the town in a release on Friday, Mar. 6.
Island Health mandates a turbidity level of one NTU (nephelometric turbidity unit) or lower for safe consumption.
