PARKSVILLE — Oceanside RCMP have made what they hope is a decent dent in the local drug supply.

Mounties raided a home near Wembly Mall on Wednesday, Nov. 27 in response to several tips from the public and their own investigation.

Cpl. Jesse Foreman told NanaimoNewsNOW officers seized a considerable amount of product from the home.

“There was a significant quantity of illicit drugs that looked like they were ready to be sold, scales and other paraphernalia that we normally find when there’s the distribution and sale of illicit drugs,” Foreman said.

Police also arrested Ryan Walter O’Melia, 29, and Kyle Andrew Thomsen, also 29.

O’Melia was later released on bail, while Thomsen remained in custody. Court dates are set for Dec. 10.

Police quickly learned from the public how popular of a spot this was for local drug dealers and users.

“We did find there was a significant amount of traffic, both foot and vehicular traffic to that location which is something that normally occurs at a drug house,” Foreman said.

Foreman added he wasn’t aware of how localized this drug operation was, unlike a Nanaimo RCMP raid last week which primarily distributed to the downtown core.
